About Marsha

Marsha, from My Favorite Teapot

Hi there! My name is Marsha, and if there’s one thing you should know about me, it’s that I love all sorts of teapots. I’ve been planning this website, called My Favorite Teapot, to help fellow tea enthusiasts and collectors find their next favorite, but I think that the people who want to buy them gifts will also appreciate it.

I bought my first teacup when I was about 15, and I received my first tea set as a gift when I was 18. I love making looseleaf tea in that white Japanese porcelain teapot with its removable bamboo handle and delicate pink floral decoration. Time seems to stand still as I drink from one of the handle-less cups. After that first set, I began purchasing teapots at yard sales and stores to decorate my home with them. Through the years, I’ve curated my own small teapot collection, and each item bears a memory of special moments and simple pleasures.

Teapots are more than vessels for tea. These decorative pieces are used during relaxing rituals, or to add a touch of color and elegance to a room. Often, they become cherished heirlooms that carry the family legacy to the next generation. I have a few of these in my cabinets.

My mission is simple but profound: I’m here to help you discover that ideal teapot for right now. Whether you’re looking for a new teapot to complement your tea-drinking habits and personal taste, or trying to find a gift for someone else, I believe there’s a teapot out there waiting to be part of your story.

I want to present my readers with an experience instead of just a catalog of teapots. In the beginning phases of this website, I’ll focus on history, lore, and information about teapots and the materials they are made of. In a few months, I’ll introduce affiliate links where website users can purchase the teapots I recommend.

Ultimately, I want My Favorite Teapot to become a source of information to help people experience tea and teaware. I’m thrilled to be your guide on this exploration, and together, I’m sure we’ll uncover the rich history and cultural significance of tea and teapots from around the world.

Crafting an Experience with Every Teapot

When you choose a teapot, you’re not just selecting an object in which to brew tea. You’re preparing for an entire experience, and the teapot is the star of the show! I’d like to help you see how each teapot can transform the simple process of making tea into something truly remarkable.

Teapots are both beautiful and useful. They come in countless shapes and sizes, and in a few different materials, each with its own story and purpose. Porcelain teapots might whisper of elegance, while a cast iron teapot conveys a certain solidity with its weight and durability. Glass teapots? They’re all about the visual delight of dancing leaves and the color of the brew.

Choosing the perfect teapot isn’t just a matter of personal taste or aesthetics. Often, it is a vehicle for tradition. Each time you sit down to enjoy a pot of tea, you’re continuing a practice shared among many cultures that stretches across continents and centuries. But you’re also creating your own tradition, and that’s why choosing the teapot that will be your companion in this will help you write your own story more effectively.

More Than Just a Store: A Teapot Treasury

As I draw the curtain on this introduction to my website, I hope you’ve felt the warmth that I want to pour into every page here. My Favorite Teapot isn’t just an online store, it’s also a treasury of information about teaware and tea. I’m here not only as your guide, but as a fellow tea lover, committed to helping you find that special piece that will do more than serve a practical purpose. Every teapot I present to you will be selected with an eye for beauty and quality, and I hope you find a keepsake that becomes a part of your fondest memories.

While this website is designed to make your shopping journey straightforward with affiliate links, my goal transcends facilitating transactions. I want to create an experience that resonates with the soulful practice of tea drinking and sharing. So, I invite you to read and enjoy the informational articles about tea and teapots as you explore, discover, and fall in love with teapots just as I have.

Thank you for spending time with me at My Favorite Teapot. Should you have any questions as you navigate through the various chapters of tea and teapots, remember that I am just a message away. Together, let’s continue to explore the exquisite world of teaware: one pot, one cup, and one story at a time.

Welcome to My Favorite Teapot!

My name is Marsha and I love teapots and everything connected with them. I also enjoy making and drinking tea, and having tea parties with my granddaughters. My collection includes over 30 teapots, along with assorted cups, coffee sets, mugs, and other cool things.

I started the site for different reasons. First of all, I like to find out about these objects that I think are beautiful. At a flea market, I recently bought a coffee set dated around 1950, and I could not find information about the pattern even though I was able to find out something about the manufacturer (which went out of business a long time ago). Another of my treasures is a brown teapot I bought for €2 at a church bazaar. I researched the mark on the bottom and found out that it was made by Gibson in England almost 100 years ago. It’s only worth about $40 now, but hey, percentage-wise that’s quite a bargain.

Another reason I started the site is to share recipes, traditions, and tips about making tea. I have friends in Milan, Italy who have their own tea room and it is really a nice place to go.

The third reason is, obviously, to earn a little money on the side. Some of the companies I plan to feature have affiliate programs, which means that if you buy something through my website, I get a small commission, at no extra cost to you. When I can, I’ll try to get some convenient discounts for you to make it worth your while.

I hope you’ll stick around to share a cup of tea. Get comfortable while I warm the pot.
